MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - Even as world cotton production is estimated to rise nearly 3 percent, world ending stocks are likely to drop 14 percent to 19.48 million tons in 2016-17, as per International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC).
ICAC’s first estimate for the upcoming season pegged global production at 23.08 million tons for the season that starts in August, up 2.8 percent from an estimated 22.46 million in the current 2015/16 year.
Global consumption is seen at 24.13 million tons, up 0.2 percent from a forecast of 24.08 million this year.
World imports and exports are seen rising 4 percent to 7.68 million tons compared to 7.37 million tons this season.
