MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in its weekly crop progress report for the week ended 6th September, 2015 rated U.S cotton crop 53 percent good/excellent, slightly below 54 percent in the previous week.
According to the report, 31 percent of the crop reached bolls opening stage in all the 15 major cotton growing states during the week compared to 22 percent a week ago and below five year average of 38 percent.
About 95 percent of the crop is setting bolls compared to 94 percent a week ago and 100 percent of five year average.
About 75 percent of the crop is seen good/excellent in Texas, the leading producing state in the U.S. Crop in many regions of Texas are in harvesting stage, while in few areas harvesting is reported to have completed. Dryland cotton needed rain, especially in Rolling Plains, but irrigated cotton looked very good.
