US cotton net export sales for Dec 1-7 at 57,800 RB, down 50 percent W/W

NEW DELHI, Dec 14: US cotton net sales were at 57,800 running bales (RB) for the week ended December 7 in the marketing year 2023/2024 starting August 1, down 50 percent from the previous week and 77 percent from the prior 4-week average.

US cotton net sales were at 116,400 RB for the week ended November 30.

Increases were primarily for Vietnam (21,200 RB, including 400 RB switched from Japan), Honduras (16,900 RB), El Salvador (6,100 RB), Mexico (3,500 RB), and Pakistan (3,100 RB, including decreases of 200 RB), were offset by reductions for China (1,000 RB) and Macau (900 RB).

Net sales of 13,600 RB for 2024/2025 were reported for Guatemala (8,100 RB), Honduras (5,000 RB), and Mexico (500 RB). Exports of 148,700 RB were up 7 percent from the previous week and 42 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to China (93,800 RB), Mexico (11,400 RB), Vietnam (8,500 RB), Pakistan (8,400 RB), and Turkey (7,600 RB).

Net sales of Pima totaling 7,700 RB for 2023/2024 were up noticeably from the previous week and up 47 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were primarily for China (4,400 RB), India (1,300 RB), Italy (1,200 RB), Thailand (400 RB), and South Korea (300 RB).

Total net sales of 1,200 RB for 2024/2025 were for Italy. Exports of 19,000 RB--a marketing-year high--were up noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were to China (11,100 RB), India (3,800 RB), Vietnam (2,300 RB), Thailand (1,000 RB), and Ethiopia (500 RB).

Optional Origin Sales: For 2023/2024, the current outstanding balance of 4,400 RB were reported for Bangladesh.

Exports for Own Account: For 2023/2024, new exports for own account totaling 200 RB were to China. Exports for own account totaling 5,700 RB to China (5,400 RB) and Vietnam (300 RB) were applied to new or outstanding sales.

The current exports for own account outstanding balance of 108,700 RB are for China (85,600 RB), Vietnam (14,500 RB), Pakistan (5,000 RB), South Korea (2,400 RB), and Turkey (1,200 RB).
