US cotton net export sales for Nov 17-23 at 217,700 RB, down 32 percent W/W

NEW DELHI, Nov 30 : US cotton net sales were at 217,700 running bales (RB) for the week ended November 23 in the marketing year 2023/2024 starting August 1, down 32 percent from the previous week and 42 percent from the prior 4-week average.

US cotton net sales were at 328,300 RB for the week ended November 16

Increases were primarily for Vietnam (100,000 RB, including 3,500 RB switched from Macau, 700 RB switched from Japan, and decreases of 100 RB), China (64,600 RB, including 1,800 RB switched from Macau), Guatemala (36,900 RB), Mexico (18,500 RB), and Honduras (11,400 RB), were offset by reductions for Turkey (23,800 RB), Macau (5,300 RB), and Portugal (4,400 RB).

Total net sales of 15,400 RB for 2024/2025 were for Turkey. Exports of 88,800 RB were up 14 percent from the previous week, but down 14 percent from the prior 4-week average.

The destinations were primarily to China (37,600 RB), Mexico (13,600 RB), Vietnam (12,100 RB), Bangladesh (10,900 RB), and Indonesia (2,800 RB).

Net sales of Pima totaling 1,600 RB for 2023/2024 were down 27 percent from the previous week and 89 percent from the prior 4-week average.

Increases were primarily for India (1,000 RB). Exports of 8,900 RB were up noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average.

The destinations were to China (6,100 RB), India (900 RB), Pakistan (700 RB), Thailand (500 RB), and Ethiopia (500 RB).

Optional Origin Sales: For 2023/2024, options were exercised to export 900 RB to Pakistan from the United States. The current outstanding balance of 4,400 RB were reported for Bangladesh.

Exports for Own Account: For 2023/2024, new exports for own account totaling 1,700 RB were to China. Exports for own account totaling 3,700 RB to China were applied to new or outstanding sales.

The current exports for own account outstanding balance of 115,000 RB are for China (90,000 RB), Vietnam (16,400 RB), Pakistan (5,000 RB), South Korea (2,400 RB), and Turkey (1,200 RB).
