Mumbai, 28 March (Commoditiescontrol):According to customs data, China's cotton imports fell sharply in February. The country imported 85,506 metric tons (MT) of cotton, a decrease of 38.92% from 139,990 MT in the previous month and a decline of 53.81% from 185,101 MT in February 2022.
In the first two months of this year, China imported 225,496 MT of cotton, a significant decline of 45.46% compared to the same period in 2022, when imports reached 413,442 MT.
The drop in imports could be attributed to several factors, including the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and rising tensions in global trade. How the cotton market will respond to these trends in the coming months remains to be seen.
