Mumbai, 13 Oct (Commoditiescontrol): The import of RBD Palmolein has witnessed a rapid escalation, reaching 13% (20.53 lakh tons) in the current fiscal year, up from 5% (6.86 lakh tons) in 2020-21 and 3% (4.21 lakh tons) in 2019-20. This surge in imports is posing significant challenges to the domestic palm oil refining sector.
Additionally, the import of crude oil has also surged over the past four months, totaling 134.15 lakh tons, compared to 109.51 lakh tons in the previous year. These developments highlight the increasing reliance on imported oils and the growing pressure on the domestic industry.
