NEW DELHI, Dec 29: US cotton net sales were at 369,900 running bales (RB) for the week ended December 21 in the marketing year 2023/2024 starting August 1, up noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average.
US cotton net sales were at 146,700 RB for the week ended December 14.
Increases were primarily for China (271,200 RB, including decreases of 11,400 RB), Vietnam (38,900 RB, including 100 RB switched from South Korea), Mexico (13,500 RB, including decreases of 100 RB), Turkey (11,400 RB), and Malaysia (8,300 RB), were offset by reductions for Honduras (1,800 RB) and South Korea (100 RB).
Total net sales of 2,600 RB for 2024/2025 were for Mexico.
Exports of 231,000 RB--a marketing-year high--were up 4 percent from the previous week and 54 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to China (145,100 RB), Vietnam (12,900 RB), Pakistan (10,200 RB), Indonesia (8,900 RB), and Bangladesh (7,900 RB).
Pima
Net sales of Pima totaling 4,000 RB for 2023/2024 were down 26 percent from the previous week and 12 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were primarily for China (1,800 RB), Colombia (600 RB), Thailand (600 RB), India (500 RB), and Japan (200 RB).
Exports of 3,500 RB were down 36 percent from the previous week and 62 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were to China (1,700 RB), India (1,000 RB), Thailand (400 RB), Peru (300 RB), and Japan (100 RB).
Optional Origin Sales: For 2023/2024, the current outstanding balance of 4,400 RB were reported for Bangladesh.
Exports for Own Account: For 2023/2024, new exports for own account totaling 2,600 RB were to China. Exports for own account totaling 5,500 RB to China were applied to new or outstanding sales. The current exports for own account outstanding balance of 101,100 RB are for China (78,000 RB), Vietnam (14,500 RB), Pakistan (5,000 RB), South Korea (2,400 RB), and Turkey (1,200 RB).
