Mumbai, March 14 (Commoditiescontrol): Small cardamom prices in major markets remained mostly stable, signaling a recovery following a recent session. The market update indicates that Ramadan demand, which had previously driven prices up, has now been satisfied, exerting additional pressure on prices post the price surge. However, prices have rebounded from a five-month low, supported by robust demand at lower price levels.
The average price per kilogram saw a marginal increase from Rs 1,371-1,400 in the previous session to Rs 1,365-1,403 this time. Despite this uptick, the average price has stayed below Rs 1,500 per kg. Similarly, grade-specific rates held steady following a weak session, with prices ranging between Rs 1,480 and Rs 2,000 per kg based on different grades.
Arrivals recorded a decline from 81,984 kg to 75,413 kg compared to the previous session, contributing to a decrease in total offtake. However, demand remained robust following the recent price drop, with daily offtake matching all arrivals.
In the major East and North East markets, large cardamom prices were reported to be firm. Chotadana prices witnessed a rise of Rs 50-70 per kg, while Badadana prices increased by Rs 50 per kg since the previous auction. Chotadana prices ranged between Rs 1,200 and Rs 1,245 per kg, while Badadana prices varied from Rs 1,300 to Rs 1,425 per kg.
Overall, despite fluctuations in arrivals and demand dynamics, stability prevailed in small cardamom prices, reflecting the market's response to recent trends and demand patterns.
