Cumin Prices Soften in Gujarat Amid Suge Arrival Surges

Ahmedabad, February 17 (CommoditiesControl): Gujarat is witnessing a continuous increase in the arrival of cumin, leading to a softening of prices. The weather forecast for the cumin crop is favorable, indicating the potential for a good production season. As a result, prices have declined by Rs 50-100. The overall cumin crop estimate for the country this year is around one crore bags, contributing to the subdued price outlook.

Traders report that around 8,000-9,000 bags of new cumin arriving in Unja. In the new crop category, rough cumin is priced at Rs 4,900-5,200 per 20 kg, the best quality at Rs 5,700-6,100 per 20 kg, and Bombay Bold at Rs 6,100-6,900 per 20 kg. Nearby trading areas witnessed trade volume of around 10,000-11,000 sacks.

In Rajkot mandi, against the arrival of 2,550 quintals, prices ranged from Rs 4,100-6,250 per 20 kg. Meanwhile, in Gondal Mandi, with the arrival of 3,200 bags, prices were reported at Rs 5,451-6,401 per 20 kg, varying based on quality.
