Ahmedabad, February 19 (CommoditiesControl): The arrival of new coriander continues to surge in Saurashtra, while the spot market has witnessed a positive shift in prices by Rs 15-20 per 20 kg after the recent holiday. The entry of new traders into the market has contributed to the price improvement. Currently, the coriander market is not experiencing significant fluctuations, but the upcoming demand from China, following the end of Lunar holidays, could potentially provide support to the market.
Traders in Rajkot highlight that there is still a substantial quantity of goods entering the market at lower prices. However, expectations suggest a potential increase in dry goods from the next week.
Today, around 45,000 bags of coriander, each weighing 40 kg, arrived in Saurashtra. Among these, around 5,000 bags consisted of old coriander seeds. The prices for new coriander remained stable within the range of Rs 1,000-1,600 per 20 kg, while old coriander prices were reported at Rs 1,250-1,400 per 20 kg.
In Gondal Mandi, out of the 23,000 sacks arriving, 20,000 sacks were new coriander, and 3,000 sacks were old coriander. Prices in Gondal ranged from Rs 1,501-2,166. Other mandis, including Halvad, Rajkot, Jetpur, Jamjodhpur, Junagadh, Amreli, and Jamnagar, also reported arrivals.
Dhaniya contract for APR delivery settled at Rs 7552/quintal showing an rise of Rs 12 over previous close of Rs 7540/quintal,The contract moved in the range of Rs 7552-7666 for the day. Open interest decreased by -340 MT to 20775 MT, while trading volume increased by 555 to 2090 MT.
Dhaniya contract for MAY delivery settled at Rs 7634/quintal showing an rise of Rs 12 over previous close of Rs 7622/quintal,The contract moved in the range of Rs 7620-7730 for the day. Open interest increased by 15 MT to 1410 MT, while trading volume increased by 170 to 420 MT.
Currently The spread between APR and MAY contract is -82 Rs/quintal.
