New Delhi, April 6 (Commodities Control): Cotton prices have experienced a downtrend in the Maharashtra, influenced by a reduced procurement by the spinning mills. Concurrently, the daily arrival of Kapas in the state's mandis has remained consistent.
Market participants pointed to a downturn in global cotton prices this week as a significant factor for the cautious purchasing strategy adopted by Maharashtra's spinning mills. This trend has led to a softening of cotton prices in the local spot markets for three days straight. Industry insiders note that farmers in the state are left with a limited stockpile of Kapas, which they are hesitant to offload at reduced prices. Consequently, a stable price level for both Kapas and cottonseed is anticipated in the near term within the state.
The day's report indicated a steady flow of Kapas into the state's producer markets, with 25,000 bales recorded, matching the arrivals seen on the preceding trading day.
