Ahmedabad, April 29 (CommoditiesControl): The coriander market in Gujarat continues to witness steady trend, as the initial uptick witnessed last week has come to a halt. Today, after several days, a significant arrival of coriander was recorded in the state. However, the market witnessed a decline in prices due to subdued demand, resulting in a Rs 10 per 20 kg decrease in the spot market. Softness was also observed in the futures market.
Around 24,000 bags of coriander, each weighing 40 kg, arrived in the state today. Prior to this, the average price of coriander had remained stable at Rs 1,380-1,580 per 20 kg.
In Gondal Mandi, against the arrival of 12,000 bags, 8,242 bags were traded at prices ranging from Rs 1,481 to Rs 1,871. In Rajkot Mandi, 2,700 bags were reported with prices ranging from Rs 1,250 to Rs 1,775.
Additional arrivals were noted in various mandis across the region: 1,400 sacks in Halvad, 600 sacks in Jetpur, 1,200 sacks in Jamjodhpur, 1,100 sacks in Junagadh, 500 sacks in Amreli, 1,200 sacks in Jamnagar, and an additional 2,800-3,000 sacks in other mandis.
Dhaniya contract for MAY delivery settled at Rs 7470/quintal showing an fall of Rs -36 over previous close of Rs 7506/quintal,The contract moved in the range of Rs 7420-7508 for the day. Open interest decreased by -2200 MT to 21350 MT, while trading volume increased by 300 to 2935 MT.
Dhaniya contract for JUN delivery settled at Rs 7550/quintal showing an fall of Rs -44 over previous close of Rs 7594/quintal,The contract moved in the range of Rs 7500-7590 for the day. Open interest increased by 2820 MT to 6870 MT, while trading volume decreased by -185 to 1795 MT.
Currently The spread between MAY and JUN contract is -80 Rs/quintal.
