Mumbai, May 15 (Commodities Control): A consistent stability in small cardamom prices noted across major markets, influenced by robust demand in the spot market. Export demand has particularly surged, resulting in notable price increases.
The average price has settled at Rs 2,028 per kg, showing a slight dip from the previous session's Rs 2,029 to Rs 2,064 per kg range. Notably, the highest reported price per kilogram stands at Rs 2,537, marking a decrease from the previous session's Rs 2,845.
Today's auctions were notably limited, with only one center operational, consequently leading to significantly reduced arrivals. Reports indicate arrivals dwindled to 49,018 kg, down sharply from the previous session's 103,090 kg. Similarly, offtake figures also witnessed a decline, with 47,559 kg reported, compared to the previous session's 99,254 kg. However, the offtake rate saw a slight uptick to 97.0%, reflecting improved efficiency despite decreased arrivals.
Despite these fluctuations, grade-specific rates have largely remained stable. Prices for 7 mm grades range from Rs 1,780 to Rs 1,840 per kg, while grades 7-8 mm hover between Rs 1,960 to Rs 2,040 per kg. Higher grades of 8 mm and above are priced in the range of Rs 2,200 to Rs 2,360 per kg.
