WORLD SUGAR PROSPECTS

More rain would benefit developing cane in Sao Paulo Brazil.
Mostly favorable conditions for the harvest of sugarcane in southern China
at this time.
Key growing areas for sugarcane in north India had showers during the
weekend with more possible during this week. This should favor development of
this portion of the crop. Major growing areas of west-central and south India
will rely on irrigation until seasonal rains arrive during June.
Seasonal to above average rains through the southeast Asia region will
favor sugarcane production but may delay the harvest.
Recent rain activity and cooler temperatures will mostly favor developing
sugarcane in South Africa. Wet weather may be somewhat unfavorable for the
maturing crop and could delay the harvest, somewhat.
