WORLD SOYBEAN PROSPECTS

Favorable conditions for planting and developing soybeans in the Midwest
and northern Plains.
Mostly favorable conditions for planting and developing soybeans in the
Delta states although more rain would benefit in some western areas.
Some harvest disruptions in central Argentina at this time.
Dryness is becoming of increasing concern for soybean areas of China at
this time, especially after a hot and dry weekend. Cooler temperatures and
showers are expected early this week but more rain will be needed to ease
concerns.
Planting of India's soybean crop begins during June and is timed to take
advantage of the start of the rainy season. Most of India's soybean crop is
grown between west and central Madhya Pradesh and northeast Maharashtra. The
leading edge of the Monsoon remains well south of the soybean areas but a few
pre Monsoon showers have reached into the soybean belt this weekend.
