Southeast Asia Sugarcane Weather - Oct 15

Myanmar Highlights: Scattered to widely scattered light to moderate showers 
during the weekend period. Temperatures near to above normal. 
Thailand Highlights: Scattered showers favoring western areas during the 
weekend, somewhat drier in the east. Temperatures above normal. 
Vietnam Highlights: Scattered showers south, drier north, during the weekend 
period. Temperatures above normal. Tropical storm Khanun is expected to bring 
rain and wind back top the northern Vietnam area Monday and Tuesday. 
Philippines Highlights: Widespread rain, showers and thunderstorms during the 
weekend period. Heaviest central and northern areas. Seasonal to below normal 
Malaysia Highlights: Episodes of light to moderate showers and thundershowers 
with locally heavier during the weekend period, heaviest eastern areas. 
Seasonal temperatures. 
Indonesia Highlights: The region appears to be somewhat drier at this time, 
except possibly in the north and northwest areas. 
    Earlier rain in Brazil is very timely and beneficial for developing new 
crop cane. More rain will be needed to support the crop in the coming weeks. 
Little is expected during the next 7 days along with some hot temperatures. 
    Wet weather in key growing areas of southern China may delay the early 
harvest effort for sugarcane. However, enough dry and warm weather should 
offset the impact from these rains. 
    Mostly favorable conditions for developing cane in northern India. 
Improving rainfall through key growing areas of Maharashtra and in southern 
India during recent weeks. 
    Seasonal to above average rains through the southeast Asia region will 
favor sugarcane production but may delay the harvest. 
    Improving rains and cooler temperatures will favor development of sugarcane 
through southeast areas of South Africa at this time.
