Pakistan/India Cotton Weather - Apr 23

Pakistan, North India and Bangladesh 
Highlights: Episodes of scattered showers and thunderstorms during the weekend 
period in northern Bihar, across Bangladesh and in Assam and Manipur India. 
Moderate to locally heavy rainfall totals. Little is expected elsewhere in the 
region. Temperatures above normal, except cooler in locations with thunderstorm 
 Days 1-3: Scattered thundershower activity should continue in northeast and 
far east areas during this period. A few light showers with locally heavier 
will also occur northwest and some central areas during this time. Temperatures 
moderate somewhat. 
 Days 4-5: Isolated to widely scattered afternoon showers may occur in central 
and east areas during this period. Drier through the west during this time. 
Temperatures average near to above normal. 
   Cotton planting is increasing in the Delta states. 
   No significant concerns for the harvest of cotton in northwest India at this 
   Drier weather through key growing areas of eastern Australia during this 
week will help improve conditions for the maturing crop, open boll cotton and 
harvesting, following the heavy rain at the end of March. Warmer temperatures 
would be more favorable. 
   Increasing shower activity in Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan (former Soviet 
Union) will improve soil moisture and irrigation and favor early planting of 
   Mostly favorable conditions for planting and early development for cotton in 
west China. The eastern growing belt may see some delay to planting as episodes 
of rain move across.
