Karnataka 2017-18 Food Grains Crop Likely Y/Y 3.46% Up At 101.67 LT

MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - Food grain production in Karnataka during 2017-18 (Jul-Jun) is likely to increase by 3.46% at 101.67 lakh tonne compared with 98.27 lakh tonnes a year ago, said an official with farm department.

Production of tur is estimated to fall 38% on year to 748,000 tonne due to a sharp fall in yield and acreage. Tur yield is pegged lower 900 kg per hectare (ha) from 1,051 kg per ha in 2016-17.
