Mumbai, April 11 (Commoditiescontrol): According to traders and analysts, Australian wheat plantings are expected to start strongly due to better-than-anticipated rainfall in parts of the country's grain-growing regions, resulting in improved soil moisture.
Despite forecasts of El Nino weather, which typically brings dry weather across the country, farmers have started planting the crop this year.
Recent rains in eastern and southern parts of Australia have boosted soil moisture levels, making it an ideal time for planting.
The planting of barley and canola, also grown in the same season, is expected to benefit from the recent rains.
Australia, the world's No. 2 wheat exporter, produced a record crop of nearly 40 million tonnes in 2022/23. As a result, it is expected to report record-breaking agricultural exports in the current financial year.
Key importers of Australian wheat include Indonesia, China, Japan, and buyers in the Middle East.
