MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol): Chilli arrivals in the major markets stood at 313,000 bags during the week. New arrivals is declining gradually and the market started receiving AC variety (cold storage material).

Price of all the varieties in Guntur market witnessed a sharp increase due to export demand witnessed from various destination. Also, INR against USD remained favourable for exporters. The price of Teja variety stood at INR 75-112 per kg levels and the model price raised to INR 98 per kg levels.
341, 334, 273 (Half wrinkled) and Teja varieties witnessed good demand from the overseas market especially from Indonesia, Malayasia and Thailand. Also, the availability of superior deluxe variety material is limited this season which is one of the major factors for hike in prices.
For next week, price of chilli varieties is expected to remain steady at the current levels.
