MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - Indian pulses import during April-November 2017 year-on-year rose 19.66% at 4,745,516.30 metric tonnes compared with 3,965,792.94 metric tonnes same period last year, according to commerce ministry data.
However import of pulses in the month of November fell 27.06% at 856,594.10 metric tonnes versus 1,174,455.84 metric tonnes a year ago.
Pulses imports in the recent months has declined gradually after various measures taken by the government in form of restrictions and import duty in a bid to control imports to support falling prices in the domestic market and provide relief to farmers after record pulses production in 2016-17.
