New Delhi, September 13 (Commodities Control): In a significant development for the Tur agricultural sector, widespread rains have been gracing major Tur growing districts in Karnataka and Maharashtra for the past 15 days. The meteorological reports suggest that these rains have brought a refreshing boost, likely to enhance crop conditions throughout most parts of these regions.
As we progress, light to moderate rainfalls are forecasted over the prime Tur cultivating territories. Such weather conditions are considered favorable for both crop development and the execution of intercultural activities. Currently, the crops are in a thriving vegetative stage, indicating a promising harvest season ahead.
However, the recent data released by the Ministry of Agriculture presents a contrasting picture when it comes to sowing trends. The area recorded for Tur plantation stands at 42.92 lakh hectares, marking a decline of 5.9%. This decrease is attributed to the initially slow-paced sowing activities witnessed in the major growing states.
Despite the preliminary numbers, the latest on-ground insights paint an optimistic future. Experts forecast an uptick in the plantation area by an impressive 5 to 6%. This positive turn is a direct consequence of the escalated sowing activities, primarily in Maharashtra and Karnataka, the two predominant Tur producing states.
The present conditions certainly seem conducive for a prosperous Tur farming season.
