Mumbai, April 26 (Commoditiescontrol):NAFED's rabi operation has benefited over 6.75 lakh farmers across India. The organisation procured a total of 14.36 lakh MT of gram at a minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 5335 per quintal.The total value of the procured mustard seeds stands at a whopping Rs 7663 crore. NAFED has announced the state-wise distribution of the procurement and the MSP value.
The highest quantity of gram procurement was from Maharashtra, where NAFED procured a whopping 5,59,210.94 MT of gram worth Rs 2983.39 crore at MSP. Madhya Pradesh followed closely with 4,12,912.24 MT of gram procured at MSP, valued at Rs 2202.89 crore.
In Gujarat, NAFED procured 2,57,265.21 MT of gram worth Rs 1372.51 crore at MSP, while in Karnataka, the organisation procured 73,267 MT of gram worth Rs 390.88 crore. Andhra Pradesh saw a procurement of 57,052.4 MT of gram worth Rs 304.37 crore at MSP. In Telangana, NAFED procured 50,238 MT of gram at MSP, valued at Rs 268.02 crore.
The lowest quantity of gram procurement was from Uttar Pradesh, where NAFED procured only 2546.7 MT of gram worth Rs 13.59 crore at MSP. On the other hand, Rajasthan saw a procurement of 23,942.08 MT of gram at MSP, valued at Rs 127.73 crore.
The procurement of gram by NAFED has brought immense relief to farmers across India, especially during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The procurement at MSP ensures that farmers get a fair price for their produce and helps stabilise gram prices in the market.
NAFED's efforts in procuring gram at MSP have also contributed towards achieving the government's goal of doubling farmers' income by 2022. The organisation is expected to continue its efforts in procuring crops at MSP to benefit farmers across the country.
