IMD: Rain, Thunderstorm & Hail Warning for Central & East India on 24th March

Mumbai, March 23 (Commoditiescontrol):The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather advisory for central, east, northwest, northeast, and south India for the next few days based on the synoptic features observed during the past 24 hours.

Northwest India is expected to experience a fresh spell of rainfall and thunderstorm activity, along with isolated hailstorms, from the evening of 23rd to 25th of March. As a result, Punjab, Haryana, West Rajasthan, Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Uttar Pradesh are likely to be affected.

Central India is expected to have mainly dry weather in the coming days. Still, fresh rainfall and thunderstorm activity will likely commence over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh on the 25th and 26th of March.

East India is also expected to have mainly dry weather, but a fresh thunderstorm activity will likely commence over the region from 26th March onwards.

Northeast India is likely to experience scattered to fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall activity with thunderstorms and lightning during the next five days. Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh and, Assam & Meghalaya on 23rd March.

South India is expected to have isolated to scattered rainfall and thunderstorm activity over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Kerala & Mahe, and Andhra Pradesh during the next five days. In addition, Telangana, Kerala & Mahe, and interior Karnataka are likely to experience thunderstorm activity with lightning during the same period.

Maximum temperatures will remain unchanged in most parts of the country during the next five days. However, there could be a rise in maximum temperatures by 2-3⁰C in East India and a gradual rise by 2-4⁰C in Maharashtra.

The IMD has also issued an impact and action suggestion for isolated thunderstorms/lightning/gusty winds & hailstorms in different regions of India on different days, which is available on the IMD site.
