Mumbai, 08 Feb 2024 (Commoditiescontrol):Statistics Canada's latest data indicates a significant surge in Canada's field pea exports for January, marking a notable increase compared to December's figures.
The report shows that January's export shipments reached an impressive 250,071 metric tons (MT), a substantial rise from the 132,524 MT recorded in the previous month. This robust performance in January contributes to the cumulative export sales for the current marketing year, which now stand at 1,227,889 MT. Despite this month's growth, the year-to-date figures reflect a slight 2% decrease compared to the same period last year.
China remains the leading importer of Canadian field peas, with January purchases amounting to 108,510 MT. India closely follows, securing its position as the second-largest importer with 103,595 MT. The United States also featured as a significant importer, albeit at a lower volume of 15,444 MT.
