CAI: Cotton Production Unchanged At 341 Lakh Bales For 2016-17

MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - The Cotton Association of India (CAI) has estimated 2016-17 cotton crop at 341 lakh bales which is unchanged from its earlier estimates released in December. However, the current production estimates are just one percent above previous season's production.

The balance sheet drawn by the CAI pegs total cotton supply for 2016-17 at 405.00 lakh bales (170kg each) while domestic consumption is estimated at 295 lakh bales, 24 percent lower than in 2015-16, Thus leaving a surplus of 110 lakh bales.

(Note: CAI Balance Sheet has not factored exports figure)
