Indian Cotton Yarn Prices Up On Export Market

MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) – With rising cotton and cotton yarn prices in the domestic markets in India, offers on export markets too are influenced in recent weeks. Prices were also up seeing rising quotes from Vietnam, Pakistan and Indonesia. Since the beginning of February, the benchmark 32s carded yarn prices in India have gained US cents 15 a kg month on month, the highest increase among Asian suppliers outside China. Vietnam posted increase of US cents 12 a kg, Indonesia US cents 9 a kg and Pakistan US cents 7 a kg.

The increases in February were also the highest since July last when prices were up US cents 15-23 a kg, following sharp rise in cotton prices then. Compared to year ago levels, Indian prices surged 19% followed by Vietnam 18%, Pakistan 14% and Indonesia 10%.

Cotton yarn prices have room to increase further given the continuous rise in cotton prices during the first half of February.
