NEW DELHI (Commoditiescontrol) – Sugar prices were mixed on Saturday in the spot markets of Mumbai due to slack demand. Supply from sugar mills were higher than demand, that’s why pressure was seen on prices of the sweetener. However, traders see firm trend in sugar prices next week.
Arrivals were 30-31 truck loads while local dispatches were around 28-29 truck loads.
Kolhapur ex-mill rates were down. S-grade of sugar was quoted at Rs. 3,805-3,915/100kg and M-grade of sugar was offered at Rs. 3,880-3,950/100kg.
Accordingly, spot prices at Vashi market for S-grade sugar were quoted at Rs. 3,925-4,035/100kg while M-grade sugar traded at Rs. 4000-4,070/100kg.
Bombay Sugar Merchant Association’s spot rates were nearly flat. S-grade of sugar was quoted at Rs. 3,940-4,002/100kg and M-grade of sugar at Rs. 4,026-4,281/100kg.
Naka delivery rates mixed. S-grade sugar was offered at Rs. 3,900-3,950 and M-grade was quoted at Rs. 3,970-4,050/100kg.
M-grade sugar traded steady at Rs. 4,000-40,80/100kg in the wholesale market of Delhi.
In the future market, near month sugar contract though settled higher from previous closing value but as compared to last week, the benchmark contract held nearly flat at National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Ltd (NCDEX).
Sugar future for March delivery settled at Rs. 3,901/100kg, nine rupees up from corresponding last session while it the contract had settled at Rs. 3,900/100kg in the last to last Friday at local bourse.
