MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - Chana traded strong in most markets of Rajasthan on Tuesday amid thin supply and firm cues from benchmark Delhi market.
Chana price rose by Rs 200 at Rs 9,600/100kg at the key Lawrence road market of Delhi today due to lower supply of 40-45 trucks against 60-65 trucks previous session.
Prices in the local market were surged mainly due to thin arrivals against good demand. However, buyers prefer to buy the commodity at the lower level rather than at higher rates due to uncertainty.
However experts believes one should not worry in chana at least up to Diwali as chana consumption during September to October-November remain on the higher side due to festival demand.
Domestic supply-demand is tight, whereas Australia chana crop is late as well, all these ingredients are very supportive for the chana.
Availability of chana dal in the market is said to be dull as recent heavy rainfall in many states like Maharashtra, Telangana and Andhra affected milling activity. Major supply in these market is ensured from north Indian markets.
This year Chana cultivation area is expected to increase due to higher prices of Chana in comparison to other Rabi commodities.
A trader from Jaipur said “Prices will remain strong around Diwali, however may start to react after 7-10 days before as demand is likely to fade.
