MUMBAI (Commmoditiescontrol) - In Guntur, Teja (deluxe) price touched the maximum of INR 120 per kg levels on the higher side and the modal price is ranging between INR 105-108 per kg levels.
As on date, chilli stock position in Guntur is approximately 40 lakh bags in which availability of premium varieties is limited. Similarly, Wonder Hot variety price increased to INR 105 per kg levels on the higher side and the increase can be attributed to surging overseas demand according to the traders.
Chilli arrivals in Madhya Pradesh starts in October which may witness hike in prices. Rainfall is less and the water availability in bore-wells are also limited. Prevailing over 40 degree Celsius may impact the yields as per the initial forecast. However, MP is forecast to receive good rainfall in coming weeks.
Rainfall status
Moderate rainfall witnessed during first two weeks of June 2019. However, it is very less as compared to same period last season. IMD forecasts favourable rainfall for July and August 2019 which may benefit sowing process. Also, the availability of water in bore-wells in Guntur and surrounding area reported well.

Guntur and Khammam markets re-opened on 11 th June 2019. All chilli varieties prices traded higher due to increasing overseas demand.
