Coriander Price Surge in Gujarat Amid Limited Arrival

Ahmedabad, April 24 (CommoditiesControl): Coriander prices in Gujarat saw a notable uptick as the arrival of the spice remained limited across all mandis in Saurashtra. Contrary to expectations of increased arrivals following Tuesday's market closure, coriander arrivals remained subdued on Wednesday, driving prices up by Rs 10-15 per 20 kg.

Traders anticipated a surge in coriander arrivals post the market holiday but were met with limited supply, leading to a price hike.

Around 20,000 bags, each bag weighing 40 kg, of coriander arrived in the state today, maintaining an average price range of 1380-1580 rupees per 20 kg.

In Gondal Mandi, 6,000 bags were recorded, with around 25,000 bags pending, out of which 10,185 bags were traded at Rs. 1,461-1,826. Rajkot Mandi recorded an arrival of 2,000 bags, with prices ranging from Rs. 1,351-1,811.

Other mandis also saw arrivals, including 800 bags in Halvad, 700 bags in Jetpur, 2,000 bags in Jamjodhpur, 3,000 bags in Junagadh, 700 bags in Amreli, 1,800 bags in Jamnagar, and approximately 2,800-3,000 bags in other mandis.

Jeeraunjha contract for JUN delivery settled at Rs 22270/quintal showing an rise of Rs 590 over previous close of Rs 21680/quintal,The contract moved in the range of Rs 21850-22345 for the day. Open interest increased by 144 MT to 771 MT, while trading volume increased by 258 to 549 MT.
