Mumbai, April 12 (CommoditiesControl): Small cardamom prices witnessed a decline in major markets today, with both centers operating as usual. The downturn in prices was attributed to a surge in arrivals, although market analysts anticipate sustained demand to keep prices within a stable range.
The average price per kilogram ranged between Rs 1,603 and Rs 1,674, marking a decrease compared to the previous session's average of Rs 1,647-1,716. However, there was a notable increase in the highest reported price, reaching Rs 2,742 per kg, up from Rs 2,622 per kg in the previous session.
Arrivals plummeted to 89,615 kg, a significant drop from 154,853 kg recorded in the previous session. Despite the decrease in arrivals, offtake remained robust at 87,593 kg, indicating an offtake rate of 97.7%.
Reports suggest that grade-specific rates have remained relatively consistent. Prices for 7 mm grades range from Rs 1,560 to Rs 1,650 per kg, while grades 7-8 mm are priced between Rs 1,700 to Rs 1,740 per kg. Grades 8 mm and above are trading in the range of Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,140 per kg.
