Cumin Prices Dip in Gujarat, Arrival Reduces

Ahmedabad, April 12 (CommoditiesControl): Despite the ongoing cumin season in Gujarat, the atmosphere in the market remains subdued, with a noticeable decline in prices. This has left traders feeling disinterested in conducting business activities. Reports from Unja indicate a continued downward trend in cumin prices, coupled with a significant reduction in arrivals. Farmer sales have notably decreased, adding to the prevailing sense of sluggishness in the market. Today witnessed a further decline of Rs 50 per 20 kg in the price of cumin.

Traders report that around 20,000-22,000 bags of cumin arrived in Unja, with around 12,000-13,000 bags originating from Rajasthan and the remaining 10,000 sacks from the state. Cumin prices ranged from Rs 3750-3950 per 20 kg for rough cumin, Rs 4250-4550 per 20 kg for best quality, and Rs 4550-5250 per 20 kg for Bombay Bold.

In other markets, the situation reflected the subdued atmosphere seen in Unja. In Rajkot Mandi, arrivals amounted to around 1500 bags, with prices ranging from Rs 3600-4554 per 20 kg. Meanwhile, Gondal Mandi reported arrivals of around 1418 bags, with prices ranging from Rs 4301-4526 per 20 kg depending on quality.



Jeeraunjha contract for APR delivery settled at Rs 22810/quintal showing an fall of Rs -790 over previous close of Rs 23600/quintal,The contract moved in the range of Rs 22810-23840 for the day. Open interest decreased by -798 MT to 408 MT, while trading volume increased by 534 to 1371 MT

Jeeraunjha contract for MAY delivery settled at Rs 22360/quintal showing an fall of Rs -530 over previous close of Rs 22890/quintal,The contract moved in the range of Rs 22260-22890 for the day. Open interest increased by 204 MT to 2700 MT, while trading volume increased by 531 to 1836 MT.

Jeeraunjha contract for JUN delivery settled at Rs 22465/quintal showing an fall of Rs -405 over previous close of Rs 22870/quintal,The contract moved in the range of Rs 22465-22875 for the day. Open interest increased by 12 MT to 141 MT, while trading volume decreased by -54 to 66 MT.

Currently The spread between APR and MAY contract is 450 Rs/quintal.

Currently The spread between MAY and JUN contract is -105 Rs/quintal

Currently The spread between APR and JUN contract is 345 Rs/quintal.
