Ahmedabad, April 11 (Commodities Control): Eid holiday impacted trading in Gujarat's coriander market today, as several markets in the state remained closed. Consequently, the day witnessed a decrease in coriander arrivals, with prices experiencing a softening trend following a dip in the futures market yesterday.
Traders reported closures in key markets across Saurashtra, including Gondal, Junagadh, Jetpur, Amreli, and Jamnagar, contributing to the subdued market activity. With many marketplaces shuttered, the market's direction is expected to hinge on the arrivals slated for Friday.
Today's coriander arrivals in the state totaled around 17,500 bags, each weighing 40 kg. Prices averaged between Rs 1,370 to Rs 1,570 per 20 kg. In the Rajkot mandi, where 5,000 bags arrived, prices ranged from Rs 1,300 to Rs 1,781. Halvad received 2,500 sacks, Jamjodhpur saw 5,000 sacks, and other mandis received 4,000 to 5,000 sacks.
It's worth noting that the closure of the futures market due to Eid further subdued trading activity for the day.
