Mumbai, April 8 (CommoditiesControl): Small cardamom prices surged in major markets, driven by robust domestic demand and limited supply resulting from the limited opening of auction centers.
With only one center operational today, the prices witnessed a sharp rise due to restricted supply against strong demand. The average price per kilogram reached Rs 1,795, with some transactions reaching as high as Rs 2,534.
Arrivals totaled 43,424 kilograms, with an offtake of 41,140 kilograms, indicating a high off take rate of 96.2%.
Grade-specific rates have remained consistent, with prices for 7 mm grades ranging between Rs 1,560 and Rs 1,650 per kilogram. Meanwhile, prices for grades 7-8 mm are reported to be between Rs 1,700 and Rs 1,740 per kilogram, and for grades 8 mm and above, prices range from Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,140 per kilogram.
