Mumbai, March 12 (CommoditiesControl): Small cardamom prices have continued to show downward trend, reaching fresh seasonal lows as export inquiries remain limited and domestic demand dwindles. The market update reveals that the demand for Ramadan has already been fulfilled, leading to price pressures following the earlier surge. Prices have now declined below the critical threshold of Rs 1,300 per kg.
In major markets, the average price per kilogram has dipped from Rs 1,306-1,337 in the previous session to Rs 1,265-1,345 in the current session. Despite a slight increase in the maximum price per kilogram from Rs 1,780 to Rs 1,852, the average price remains below Rs 1,500 per kg, marking a fresh low for the season.
Grade-specific rates have experienced declines ranging from Rs 50 to 80 per kg. Presently, prices stand at Rs 1,480 to Rs 1,550 per kg for 7 mm grades, Rs 1,600 to Rs 1,700 per kg for grades 7-8 mm, and Rs 1,900 to Rs 2,000 per kg for grades 8 mm and higher.
Despite a slight increase in arrivals from 91,790 kg to 117,094 kg, total offtake rose to 115,615 kg from 86,466 kg in the previous session, owing to lower arrivals. The uptick in demand following the recent price decline is notable, with a daily offtake rate reaching 98.7%, compared to the earlier 95%.
