Mumbai, March 6 (CommoditiesControl): Small cardamom prices in major markets have experienced a decline attributed to weakened export and domestic demand. The market update suggests that the demand for Ramadan has already been fulfilled, leading to downward pressure on prices following the previous increase.
The average price per kilogram has witnessed a notable drop from the previous session's range of Rs 1,484-1,530 to the current session's range of Rs 1,356-1,413. Simultaneously, the maximum price per kilogram has decreased from Rs 2,265 to Rs 1,926. After several sessions of trading higher, the average price has now fallen below Rs 1,500 per kg.
Reports indicate that grade-specific rates have remained relatively consistent. Prices for 7 mm grades range from Rs 1,520 to Rs 1,600 per kg, while grades 7-8 mm are priced between Rs 1,650 and Rs 1,740 per kg. The higher grades, specifically 8 mm and above, are quoted at Rs 1,980 to Rs 2,050 per kg.
Arrivals have declined further, reaching 96,715 kg from the previous session's 122,920 kg. The total offtake is reported at 95,072 kg, down from 118,254 kg in the previous session, attributed to reduced arrivals. Despite the downturn in prices, demand remains good, with a daily offtake rate of 98.3%, up from 96.2%.
