Mumbai, March 5 (Commoditiescontrol): Small cardamom prices in major markets have recorded an increase attributed to high demand, particularly strong export demand in the last 2-3 sessions. The surge in demand has led to a slight price increase, although prices are expected to remain under control.
The average price per kilogram has risen from Rs 1,418-1,453 in the previous session to Rs 1,484-1,530 this time. The maximum price per kilogram has increased from Rs 2,083 to Rs 2,265. Despite a fall in the previous 7-8 sessions due to increased demand, the average price has now surpassed Rs 1,500 per kg.
Grade-specific rates have reportedly remained consistent:
- 7 mm grades: Rs 1,520 to Rs 1,600 per kg
- 7-8 mm grades: Rs 1,650 to Rs 1,740 per kg
- 8 mm and higher grades: Rs 1,980 to Rs 2,050 per kg
Arrivals have dropped to 122,920 kg from 150,410 kg in the previous session. The total offtake was reported at 118,254 kg, a decrease from 146,100 kg in the previous session due to lower arrivals. Despite the decrease in arrival, demand remains good, with a daily offtake rate of 96.2%, a slight decline from 97.2%.
