Ahmedabad, February 22 (CommoditiesControl): The arrival of new cumin in Gujarat has seen a significant increase, resulting in a Rs 100 per 20 kg decline in cumin prices. Unja alone witnessed the arrival of 22,000 bags of new cumin, contributing to a total arrival of more than 35,000 sacks, each weighing 55 kg.
Traders note that the continuous increase in cumin arrivals is accompanied by the arrival of moist goods at various mandis, causing a quality issue. While the weather was clear in the state on the given day, concerns linger regarding the potential impact on the crop if weather conditions deteriorate again in the coming days.
In Unja, the price of rough cumin among the new arrivals ranged from Rs 4,900 to Rs 5,200 per 20 kg, while the best quality was priced between Rs 5,700 and Rs 6,200 per 20 kg. Additionally, the price of Bombay Bold was reported at Rs 6,200 to Rs 7,000 per 20 kg.
In Rajkot Mandi, the price stood at Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,150 per 20 kg against the arrival of approximately 5,000 quintals. Meanwhile, in Gondal Mandi, where there were 6,000 bags incoming and 7,000 bags pending, the price ranged from Rs 5,850 to Rs 6,601 per 20 kg, depending on the quality.
