New Delhi, Feb 15 (Commoditiescontrol): Cardamom prices in major markets have witnessed a marginal recovery, increasing by Rs 20-30 per kg, attributed to robust export demand. However, prices have been consistently trading in the range of Rs 1,450-1,550 over the past 8-10 sessions. The market has experienced a combination of weak domestic demand since the beginning of the week, exerting pressure on prices, and strong export demand, providing support today.
In comparison to the previous session, the average price per kilogram has risen from Rs 1,490-1,495 to Rs 1,482-1,522. The maximum price per kilogram has increased from Rs 1,969 to Rs 2,228. Despite the marginal recovery, average prices continue to trade below Rs 1,500 per kg for the second consecutive session.
Grade-specific rates have reportedly remained stable, with prices for 7 mm grades ranging from Rs 1,550 to Rs 1,600 per kg, grades 7-8 mm at Rs 1,700 to Rs 1,780 per kg, and grades 8 mm and up at Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,100 per kg.
Market arrivals reached 118,168 kg, marking an increase from the 86,464 kg recorded in the previous session. The total offtake was reported at 109,784 kg, representing a significant uptick from the 83,624 kg figure in the previous session. The daily offtake rate, however, experienced a decline to 92.9%, down from 96.3% in the previous session, attributed to lower demand.
