Spot Pepper Gains On Lower Arrivals

MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - Spot pepper prices gained by Rs 2-3 per kg at the major Kochi market in Kerala on Tuesday amid lower arrivals at the terminal market.

The price of garbled was at Rs 345/kg, while ungarbled ruled at Rs 325/kg.

Traders, the farmers are selling their produce in the primary market by bringing to the terminal market. They are getting very good prices there. The price of primary market pepper is around Rs 335/kg.

According to the Spices Board of India, the country has produced around 48,000 tonnes of black pepper this year and it is estimated to produce around 64,000 tonnes of pepper next year.

Today, the price of Brazilian pepper in the global market was $2250/tonne.
