Mumbai, May 7 (Commodities Control): The busy Khargone market in Madhya Pradesh, renowned for its robust cotton and chilly production, is set to witness a temporary halt in operations. Market Secretary Laxman Singh Thakur announced that the market will remain shuttered from May 10th to May 14th, spanning five days. During this period, the customary auctions of grains and cotton will be suspended.

Thakur informed that the reason for the markets remaining closed are the government holidays, bank closures, and the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. With a government holiday falling on May 10th, followed by a bank holiday on the 11th, and the market employees engaged in election duties, the scheduled auctions will be postponed.

The decision to suspend operations underscores the necessity to accommodate the prevailing circumstances, ensuring the seamless functioning of essential services while respecting the electoral process. Although the temporary closure may disrupt the regular flow of trade, stakeholders remain well aware of the essential duties causing this temporary halt.
