New Delhi, March 23 (Commodities Control): Cotton prices stayed stagnant in the markets of Maharashtra on Saturday, with limited demand from spinning mills. Additionally, a decrease in the daily arrivals of Kapas was noted in the state's mandis.
Traders observed that spinning mills in the state are procuring cotton in restricted quantities, mainly because laborers have returned to their villages due to festival holidays. Moreover, weak procurement from mills, influenced by the closure of March, has tempered any potential surge in cotton prices. While local demand for yarn is expected to rise in the forthcoming consumption season, most spinning mills in the state maintain a relatively low outstanding stock of cotton. Cottonseed prices have remained stable alongside Kapas in the state.
Today, the arrival of Kapas in the producer markets of Maharashtra amounted to 25,000 bales, slightly lower than the 26,000 bales recorded on the previous trading day.
