New Delhi, March 19 (Commodities Control): Cotton prices remained unchanged in the mandis of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday, reflecting limited demand from spinning mills, coupled with a decrease in the daily arrival of Kapas in these states.
Traders noted that cotton prices stabilized due to restricted purchases from spinning mills in these states. Moreover, business activities are on the decline as March draws to a close. However, despite the reduced activity, the outstanding stock of cotton with spinning mills remains low. Additionally, the daily arrival of Kapas is expected to decrease in the coming days, as farmers' outstanding stock of Kapas is also limited. Consequently, the demand for cotton from spinning mills is anticipated to rise in the near future.
In the domestic futures market, cotton prices exhibited a declining trend today. Kapas prices in the April-24 futures contract on NCDEX weakened by Rs 12.5 to reach Rs 1,568 per 20 kg. Simultaneously, cotton prices in the March-24 futures contract on MCX saw a decline of Rs 380 to Rs 61,140 per candy.
The daily arrival of Kapas in the mandis of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana amounted to 6,500 bales today, with 2,000 bales arriving in Telangana and 4,500 bales in Andhra Pradesh. This figure marks a decrease from the last trading decade, which recorded 7,000 bales arriving in these states.
