Mumbai, 16 Apr 2024 (Commoditiescontrol): Uttar Pradesh's major markets experienced a mix of stability and slight declines in matar prices today. White matar prices fell by Rs 50-100 per quintal in select markets, while green matar prices remained steady due to robust demand from South India.
Meanwhile, Canadian yellow pea (FOB) prices remain unchanged at $343 per MT. Lower available stocks and increased exports to India have maintained price stability.
Market analysts anticipate limited price fluctuations for matar. India's substantial imports tighten the global market, restricting further price declines for imported matar. While the Indian government's duty-free import policy indicates potential imports of 12-15 lakh tons this season, domestic prices are unlikely to rise significantly due to ample imported supply. The only exception would be a sharp upward movement in chana and tur prices.
