Mumbai, 10 Apr 2024 (Commoditiescontrol):Prices for imported masur lentils, particularly those sourced from Canada and Australia, have experienced a moderate increase in Indian domestic markets. This upward trend aligns with the sharp gains observed in Tur prices.
In Mumbai, imported masur prices climbed by Rs75/quintal. Meanwhile, prices in Delhi and Kolkata remained stable.
Desi masur prices were largely unchanged across most bilty trade markets, with the exception of Kanpur. In Kanpur, prices for both Uttar Pradesh line and Madhya Pradesh line masur saw a Rs 50/quintal increase.
Amidst slow offtake, masur dal prices have held steady.
Market analysts anticipate further increases in masur prices due to the gains in Tur prices and the Indian government's potential purchase at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 6425/quintal. However, a plentiful supply of desi masur within domestic markets and continued imports from Australia and Canada are expected to cap any significant price surge.
