Mumbai, 04 Apr 2024 (Commoditiescontrol):MUMBAI, Maharashtra – Tur (pigeon pea) prices in Maharashtra's major agricultural markets (mandis) have experienced a sharp increase of Rs 200-300 per quintal in recent days. This surge is attributed to a combination of stronger demand and reduced supply.

Market reports indicate that lower supply levels and robust miller demand are the primary factors driving up prices. However, analysts caution that the sudden spike in prices over the past 2-3 trading sessions may lead to a decline in demand from dal manufacturers, potentially curbing further price increases.

Arrivals have remained consistently low, and this scarcity, alongside strong buying activity, has propelled prices upwards in key markets. Dal prices have also risen by Rs 200-400 per quintal, further bolstering overall tur prices. In the international market, demand has mirrored the domestic trend, resulting in higher prices for imported, international, and resale tur. The good quality of crops at the start of the new financial year has also contributed to price support.

Tur International Prices In Key Indian Markets:

aw tur prices increased across major markets, but upward momentum appears to be slowing in Akola and Nagpur, two key markets in Maharashtra. This slowdown indicate ongoing uptrend may not sustain for longer time.

Spot Raw Tur Dal Prices In Key Indian Markets:

While domestic supply remains tight due to lower stocks, experts warn that the rapid price increases in recent sessions could lead to a short-term market correction. Additionally, there are reports of profit-taking by traders or stockists at current price levels, potentially adding downward pressure on prices.Addtonaly Tur and Turdal price should not sustain higher level given the supply of cheaper substitutes.
