Mumbai, 02 Apr 2024 (Commoditiescontrol):Chana bilty prices displayed a mixed picture across India's major markets, with Kanpur seeing a rise, while prices in Jaipur and Akola dipped slightly. Other markets reported stability in chana prices.
In Kanpur, a tightening supply pipeline caused an upward movement in prices across all pulse varieties. Mandi rates were largely unchanged, with the exception of Kota, where prices increased by Rs 50 per quintal. Despite mandis remaining open for business, trading activity has been reported as sluggish. Market analysts anticipate a pickup in trading volumes starting next week.
The chana harvest is nearing completion, with roughly 80-90% of the crop already harvested. Favorable dry weather in the key growing states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh has hastened the harvesting process. Arrivals of chana are projected to increase further, likely exerting downward pressure on prices in major markets. However, the expected lower production for the season could potentially limit any significant price drop.
