Mumbai, 22 Mar 2024 (Commoditiescontrol):Urad prices exhibited mixed trends across markets in India and Burma.
In Burma, local prices for both FAQ (Fair Average Quality) and SQ (Sound Quality) urad remained unchanged. CNF (Cost and Freight) prices in India for FAQ urad saw a rise of $10/Mt, while Chennai reseller market prices increased by $5/Mt for FAQ urad. SQ urad in Chennai held stable.
Burma urad prices in India were mixed. FAQ urad prices increased in Chennai (Rs 100/quintal) and Mumbai (Rs 50/quintal), whereas Kolkata prices declined by Rs 100/quintal. SQ urad saw a slight drop of Rs 25/quintal in Chennai, but remained unchanged in Delhi.
Andhra Pradesh saw desi urad prices decline by Rs 100/quintal in Guntur, while holding steady in Vijayawada. In Uttar Pradesh, Chandausi market prices increased by Rs 50/quintal.
Domestic Indian market supply of Burmese urad is expected to increase due to the upcoming Water Festival closures in Burma (April 12-22). This supply surge, coupled with a typical slowdown due to financial year-end activities and forward contract settlement, could lead to market volatility in the coming days.
