Mumbai, 22 Mar 2024 (Commoditiescontrol): Prices for Kabuli chickpeas remained largely steady within the Indore mandi trade. Market arrivals declined slightly to 7500 bags. Container trade experienced a minor upward price movement, particularly for large-sized Kabuli chana. Small-sized Kabuli varieties with higher counts maintained their pricing.
Overall arrivals are reported to be between 40,000 and 42,000 bags across Madhya Pradesh's Kabuli growing belts, down by 12,000 to 15,000 bags. Although trading activity is low due to Holi and the end of the year, lower arrivals have supported prices.
As stated in our most recent reports, smaller grain size production is abundant this season, which is likely to widen the gap between smaller and larger count prices even further.
Market analysts anticipate Kabuli prices to hold steady in the near future. Trading activity is expected to decline substantially due to the Holi festival and the upcoming financial year-end. Going forward, Kabuli chana prices will likely remain within a set range. Downside potential is limited as the market has taken into account factors like lower export demand and higher production. However, ongoing arrivals will likely prevent any significant price increases.
